Recently Diagnosed - Help and Advice for friends and family

DDA

When a loved one is admitted to hospital and diagnosed with TTP it can be a terrifying or worrying time for all concerned. You may have a range of emotions that may include helplessness, fear, and anxiety.

We have produced a short booklet which you may find useful. It can be downloaded here - TTP Patient Booklet (pdf)

Alternatively we can post you a copy. Please email your request to ttp@ttpnetwork.org.uk. A small charge to cover postage will be made.

If you have questions or concerns you should speak to the patient themselves, their consultant/physician or Doctor.

If you are unhappy or dissatisfied with the answers given, request a 2nd opinion.

It may be tempting to not involve the patient (your loved one) in your discussions, however for a patient, being in hospital can feel very disempowering. They may feel out of control of their own life. To have decisions made or discussions held without consultation can heighten the anxiety felt by the patient.

If you have suffered the loss of a loved one please see our page Grief And Loss.
